The Dance of Daily LifeAfrica!
Traditional African dance, music and stories are performed as they are livedas part of everyday life on the African farm, from clearing and plowing the earth to harvesting the crops. The thorough integration of dance and music into African life is demonstrated as the audience learns about the lifestyles of African peoples and how it relates to our lives here. Grades levels K- AdultsInvolving his audience from beginning, Kengmo makes Central African culture come alive through his compelling traditional garbs, stories, percussion and dance. Bringing a variety of authentic traditional instruments from his homeland Cameroon, Kengmo weaves history, art, philosophy and wisdom at the backdrop of his energetic presentation. He challenges his audiences to examine their values and ideas through the message of respect, peace, unconditional love and unity. Throughout his lively sharing, Kengmo creates a continuous sense of anticipation, excitement and curiosity. Towards the end, members of the audience play instruments, chant and dance together under Kengmo’s guidance.

Additional fees for mileage will apply for performances outside of the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Arrangements for lodging and per diem expenses will apply if Kengmo or the group has to spend the night or is performing in residence.
